Happy New Year!

Welcome 2020!  Hard to believe another year is done, and time to begin again but time waits for no one.  So as we gear up for new beginnings, it seems like a good time to focus on those things that keep us grounded while reaching for the stars.

Often it seems our pets are much more patient and understanding than the people in our lives. They love us just as much on our worst days as on our best days. Our pets are a special gift from God. God sends us beautiful puppies and kitties that give us unconditional love - to remind us how much He loves us and is always there for us whenever we reach out to Him.

One of my favorite - and most challenging Bible verses is 1 Thessalonians 5:18. "In everything give thanks; for this is the will of Christ Jesus for you." Everyone experiences joy and pain in life. Sometimes the source of our greatest joy is also the cause of our greatest pain. This is most especially true when those we love (including our pets) depart this world. It is easy to "give thanks" when things are going our way. Giving thanks in difficult times can seem next to impossible.

It all comes down to faith. There are things happening in the world that are wrong and with my human limitations, I will never understand. But in faith, "we know God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28

As I reflect on my life I can see God's loving guidance and direction, bringing me out of the darkest moments into His bright light. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path." Proverbs 3:5 Accept adversity as a blessing. God is with you always.

Every day of life is a gift. Enjoy the present. Nothing good lasts forever - and difficult situations also come to an end. Stay in faith. Your best days remain ahead of you. Happy New Year!
